Life at Cedarhurst

Caring, specially trained staff who understand dementia and its effects on behaviour encourage the residents to be as involved as they are able in the activities of daily living. The ratio of personal support workers to residents is 1:6 during the day and evening and 1:12 overnight.

Staff plan daily activities designed to stimulate and respond to the resident's individual interests and abilities. Small and large group activities, such as gardening, games, discussions and outings and other programming to support memory and cognitive functioning are organized seven days a week.

We encourage families to participate in all decisions pertaining to the care of their relative. Family members are welcome to visit any time and to participate in any or all activities. We have a loyal group of volunteers who provide opportunities for socialization and entertainment.

A Physiotherapist, a foot care nurse and a hairdresser provide their services on a regular basis. We also offer inter-denominational church services to respond to the spiritual needs of our residents.

Our commitment and focus is to ensure that each resident feels loved, supported and secure.
