Ewart Angus Homes Inc. – Proudly Canadian
Founded in 1970, by Mr. Ewart Angus, a proud Canadian who bequeathed monies ‘in trust’ under the guidance of the board members from the Eglinton St. George’s United Church to be used "for the building of a housing facility for senior citizens in the greater Toronto area". After extensive research pointed to the lack of retirement homes in North York and North Toronto for people living with dementia, the vision for the housing facility became clear.

The planning committee was inspired by the work of Dr. John Tooth, an established physician who had built specially designed residences for people living with dementia in Hobart, Tasmania. Dr. Tooth’s internationally recognized ‘small home’ model concept - small group living spaces combined with the special, personalized care and activities – was in keeping with the vision and wishes of Mr. Angus of creating a home-like, living, stimulating atmosphere.
For 30 Years, Ewart Angus Homes Inc. (EAHI) has been enhancing the lives of seniors by providing a continuum of care services which includes: independent living, assisted/supportive living operated by SPRINT, and specialized dementia care home operating as Cedarhurst for over 20 years specializing in dementia care.
